POP THAT CHAMPAGNE! (a short post)

This one goes out to those who need a short and healthy reminder that they are doing the damn thing.

Everything in your life right now has led you to this exact moment right now. This page, this sentence, this word. It’s crazy to think about how every decision you make can alter the entire direction of your life in an instant. From every failure to every accomplishment, the book of your life will continue to write itself. Living in such a vast and uncertain society, we tend to lose sight of this. Tangled in the the web we call life. We get discouraged when obstacles surface. We screw up and we cry.

News flash, its OK. We’re only human!

This one is for the goal setters, but also to those who feel frustrated, stuck and defeated.

So what is a tiny victory anyway? Aren’t victories supposed to be magnificent and grand monuments in our lives? Well yeah, sure. But you can’t just wake up one day and become president. Big victories do not just happen on their own. They take time, as all good things in life do.

Tiny victories are stepping stones. Mile-markers to reflect on what you’ve done, and fuel you for what’s to come. Giving you the motivation to keep going. Because you need to keep going, fiercely. I’m not the first person to note that anxiety can be crippling. Swallowing your drive and crushing your ambitions whole. I’m anxious 90% of the time. But sometimes I realize how important it is to take a step back and ask yourself, what is one small thing that leaves me feeling happy? What makes me feel accomplished? Something totally unrelated and ambiguous. Is can be as simple as making your bed. Maybe redecorating your room. Reading a chapter or two. Or even taking a short walk down the street and back. Sometimes, finding simple ways to structure your day can be the benchmarks you need. Do more of them.

Sure, these aren’t monumental achievements, they’re quite small actually. But learning to find joy in these tasks, however small or trivial they may feel, will move you one step closer to where you desire to be. In checking off the boxes, and accomplishing one more thing.

So I’m keeping this one short and sweet. No story, no epiphany. Just some wisdom. Appreciate where you are, as it brought you here. Right here.

For the boys and girls out there feeling lost, worry not. Breathe - you will get there. Push yourself to learn, to grow. As uncomfortable as it may be. And remember that life is a journey, not a destination. Appreciate the tiny victories, pat yourself on the back, and pop that champagne! You got this.
